Bruce Smith, http://www.brucesmithphotographer.com has been a fashion photographer for over thirty years, based out of Manchester, England.

This book is truly as the tittle states,  “Complete Guide”.  The book is a asset for those who are starting out or trying to break in to the Fashion business, or trying to compete in it.

The chapters are short, focused and really gets to the heart of the topic. Bruce gives you tried and true methods that have made him successful in his career. The chapters range from equipment, lighting, reflectors, natural light, to dealing with marketing strategies, modeling agencies and magazine editors.

Bruce is specific when he talks about setting up lighting and reflectors, (which he uses often)  and gives examples of his images and explains the set up. Other Topics include team building, Pre-production, going through a typical shoot day, directing a model, types of “required” shooting, and much more info that applies to anyone who is in this business or has a desire to be in it.

The reason I am so fond of this book is that is written in a style that is real. You can tell that Bruce is giving real advice and loves the teaching aspect of his career. It is a complete overview of the business and is sure to inspire any photographer no matter what level of experience.

I have read many books on similar subjects and have found this book to be one of the best. Bruce also offers Master Classes in the UK and USA but they fill up fast so if you are interested, waste no time in signing up at the address at the top of the page.

Shutterman’s rating **** 4 1/2 out of 5 stars.  the only reason its not five is that I want more! I guess I’ll have to go to the master Classes
